Reason for Lack of Camwhoring Photos.

Camera died already mah. No money to buy new one. Have to collect more money from.. er..... ads lah.

So basically - Want ugly mugshots of a semihuman (ie, ME!!!) to satisfy your fetishes? CLICK ON MY ADS LAH!

P/s: Psst. Are you from Canon / own(ed) a Canon Powershot / knows somebody who works at Canon? Can somebody explain to me, why instead of pictures, my 2-3 year old Powershot A85 only produces static lines now? Is this unusual? Or one of those completely normal things which I don't know about where users just accept that it WILL fuck up after AFTER the warranty expires and are expected to buy a new one like any other electronic gadgets these days? What am I supposed to do now? I am noob. Kindly advice kthx.

  1. Hmmm, is it against your ads TOC by asking your reader to click the ads? If all male reader give you RM1 each, it is faster than the ads clicking thingy ;)

FA: Your second idea will not work. I do not have 1k male readers. I don't even have 500 male readers. Faster to just click. :)

  2. You could always use your Mobile Phone cam, borrow others peoples cams, get other people to take shots and ask for the pictures ... the camwhoring can continue. Just think outside the square a little.

BUT, maybe you need to ask a camera maker to DONATE on to your cause in the name of giving it a good review.

Anyone know a good camera maker who wants to support FA's [I mean our] cause?
Or maybe someone knows an Uncle who owns a camera shop who can do a good deal or something ... or, maybe someone has an OLD camera they are willing to donate. Have a rummage around guys, see what you can find.
[I can't donate my old Kodak for two reasons, 1. It'd cost too much to send it to you, 2. the stupid thing has trouble and chews through AUD$25 lithium batteries like they're candy - some days it works, other days it won't!]

  3. Hi, same thing happened to my old Canon digital camera. Had it repaired under warranty once when the CCD (part that converts light to photos) started making lines across the photos. Then a year later, it konked out again. After that, I just bought another camera. Since then, I have been using Nikon. No complaints so far. coldspring

  7. The same thing happened to my canon after a year. The sales guy told me it was my LCD and no way i could get it fixed. I got another one before going overseas. My dad brought it to Vietnam and got it fixed for less than RM100. Damn that salesman!

  8. Same thing happened to my Fujifilm S7000, lines across the LCD....Agent said need RM500 to fix. Totally not worth it! But I really love that camera!!! :(

And yes apparently cameras can be repaired in Vietnamese rather cheaply. I was in Hanoi and a fellow traveller dropped her camera in a river and a shop fixed it for her for US$25!!! Should've found out about this before my trip so I could bring my faulty camera there...

  9. Be happy it lasted 2 years. My brand new Canon PowerShot S3iS lasted exactly 5 days before the CCD failed, and it would only take photos of faint gray lines from the world of spirits.

Best of all, they refused to repair it because I had taken it out of the country for holiday. I've been arguing with them for over 6 months now, still no refund or reimbursement.

  11. i had a canon ixus v3 from ages ago ... also the same lah ... died after like 3 yrs ... but it just so happened that Canon announced that there were defective parts on several models of IXUS during that period when my camera died. I brought it back to Canon and because they have no more parts to repair my IXUS, they exchanged my faulty IXUS V3 for a IXUS iZoom. WAHAHAHHAHA! no need to buy new one! i happy!

  16. I have a Canon A85 too. And yes, the CCD konked out last year. And yes, it is a known fault. If yours is a local unit send it in to Canon Malaysia. They did the replacement for mine gratis even though it was long out of warranty. No harm giving it a try.

  17. Just send it to Canon and they'll repair it hopefully for free. It's the CCD (image sensor) connector that's gone loose. I got mine repaired for free. Canon service and repair is quite fast and efficient. Don't worry about warranty as this is a batch problem faced by Powershot A series users. It's widely posted in photography forums.

Don't worry about switching to nikon or fuji... Canon has the best compact cams IMHO. I've been using them b4 switching to their dslr range.
