Intimidated.

Sometimes when I'm out doing my own thing, I'd bump into/come across all these Form6/college/uni kids.

Can anybody relate to how a maggot midget of a Form 1 kid feels when they come across or hear about those towering boisterous Form 6 kids? That tiny feeling. That feeling of awe. That hope that you'd someday grow up soon and be exactly like them.

I look at those kids and I still feel like that Form 1 kid, young and raw.

Then I'll wake up and realise that I'm at LEAST 7, SEVEN fucking years OLDER than them.

How the fuck did I forget that I'm already a working ADULT of 26?

Ridiculous!

  6. Oh man, I so hear you on this. But at least as a girl, it's ok to be short because you'd still get asked out.

As a short guy ... hmm, the choices are limited. ;)

FA: OMFG. IT'S NOT ABOUT BEING SHORT GAH.

  10. katik /kah-tik, ÈkAtIk/ a. [Mal., of a person or rooster: dwarf, stunted] Also formerly katek. Of a person: short.
2004 Philip Lee Streats, 12 November, 18 I am too ‘katik’ (Malay for short) to attract women as a potential mate. They look at a short man and say to themselves: No I don’t want short children. 2005 Ng Hui Hui (quoting Jeffrey Chung) The Sunday Times (LifeStyle) (from Straits Times Interactive), 23 October. She’s very katek (Malay for short), only 1.63m. But I groomed her and she made it to the top 10 in the Princess Model Of The World 2004 contest in Hong Kong.

  12. We are all 25 years old every year, ok?! BAH!!! ;)

  13. The upside of being petite is, if they ever ask you "So, when are YOU getting married?" you can instantly launch a headbutt into their crotch area. Just remember to keep your face down and mouth closed.

Yelling obsceneties at the top of your lungs afterwards is optional, but is the surest way to instil in them a lifelong Fear of Petite.

Oh wait. This is about AGE?

  25. "age is JUST a number"

    So is height.

OK OK, this post about age...

  26. I re-read your post after reading the comments. I think what you are putting across is that you are intimidated by people who did better than you in life and not from the fact that they are taller than you.
Some people seem to have accomplish more in their careers but that's life. Everyone dance to their own beat. Just dont compare and live your life the way you want to and find a boyfriend to liven things up. That helps a lot.

NOW YOU TELL ME!!! D'oh! :-)

Ronlim - Height isn't just a number when you can't reach the food in the top of the cupboard or change a lightbulb whilst standing an a chair and two telephone books! :-)
Age isn't a number either when you can't get into 'R' rated movies when you're less than 18, or your car insurance is doubled! :-)

I think her problem isn't with her age or height.

It's the fact that her friends didn't have such unrealistic or extraordinary expectations of their soul mates. It's because her friends have expectations that are within reach and could easily find the right spouse to complete them.

It's the fact that FireAngel is going to have a long road and very difficult time to find the man within her expectations that can complete her.

Lowering expectations is most definitely out until she is mentally ready, or grown out of her teeny-boppy mental state.

I just hope that by the time she outgrows that teenager mindset, she wouldn't suddenly just realize in the mirror, that she's already 40 and way past her days where she's most wanted by eligible bachelors.

Of course, I am not suggesting she simply grabs any guy off the street, for being in a tosser relationship or marriage is worse than being single, lonely and unmarried.

I do suggest, a change of the circle of friends she usually hangs out with. If she can't find the suitable guy within her current circle of friends, it's time, to take a step into another circle of friends, probably those she's never even dreamt of hanging around with, but who knows, maybe she may just find her other half in those circles.

It could be the ah beng bikers, or the bad boy criminal/gangsters, or the fake-ass gentlemen and down to the totally nerdy/geeky techie rejects that nobody wanna hang around with.

    ;-)
